Driver CPC stands for Certificate of Professional Competence. Under legislation, EU Directive 2003/59, it is required by all professional LGV and PCV drivers.

PCV drivers - from 10th September 2008 all commercial PCV drivers will need to complete 35 hours of training before 9th September 2013* If you attained your Driver CPC card though grandfather’s rights by just doing 35 hours of periodic training and not the initial qualification (Module 2 and 4 tests) then you will need to renew your Driver CPC card by completing 35 hours of periodic training before 9th September 2018. If you acquired your card by passing the initial qualification tests Module 2 Case Study and Module 4 Practical Demonstration test, then your renewal date will be 5 years from the date of you passing your module 4 test. This will be on your Drivers Qualification Card. *Failure to complete the training before these dates would mean that you would be driving illegally with a likely fine to be up to £1,000.00.
